About Chelsea O’Brien

Greetings from Los Angeles! In my last semester of college, I’ve left Boston for Emerson College’s LA internship program.

I am a marketing communications and advertising major, and thus far I’ve worked and interned with Tabblo at Hewlett-Packard, Gaming Alerts in London, and Dixon-Schwabl Advertising in Rochester, NY.

While exploring the various facets of the IMC world, I’ve discovered a fascination with branding. I love quality creative advertising, and find that my creativity unleashes itself best in writing. I hope to make a career of copywriting. Really, advertising just gets my blood pumping!

This past year, I had the privilege to work with with some of the most diligent, creative and promising individuals on the American Advertising Federation’s National Student Advertising Competition for AOL Instant Messenger. Working on AAF’s NSAC has been the single-most gratifying experience in my life. My team of thirty peers put together an ad campaign that led us to 5th place at nationals in Atlanta, GA this June. Our non-traditional research techniques were also recognized at AMA in Spring 2008 for the best “marketing on a shoestring” concept. We were lucky enough to get to present our AIM social media campaign in front of Shel Holtz, a prominent PR consultant and social media blogger. Read his thoughts and praises on our campaign here. The most exciting news, however, came months after the competition, when news hit that AOL had adopted many of our ideas in their new plan: AOL Goes Open Source.
